Set it to play to digital, and then mute the stream, this will make your receiver stay on. I forgot to mention in post 1, that if you want the digital decoder to stay always on, enable stereo mix. If you want DTS:X or TrueHD over analogue 5.1-7.1, disable passthrough.

That's not a scenario that I've personally done (I do clean installs of Windows 10 rather than upgrade installs).preset selection and decoder settings via the front panel, with the IR remote control. Reinstalling JRiver Media Center of the top of your existing install should get it working, I think. If you just did an upgrade install of Windows 10 from Windows 7 or 8 then you might have to do a reisntall of JRiver Media Center if you've enabled the WDM driver that is part of JRiver Media Center. Yes it does work with Windows 10.

So now, instead of iTunes, I get a much better looking (personal opinion but many would agree) music player that sounds better than iTunes (personal opinion and some may disagree) no doubt they could be tweaked to sound the same, but the default JRiver sounds simply better 'out of the box.' Also, nice benefit, the compressed ALAC are 'smaller' files, so basically I am not going out and buying a new external drive (I have WD 2TB, and a Seagate 2TB as backup) instead I paid for JRiver and halved the file size of my 24,000 song collection. I used ALAC over FLAC because iTunes does not support FLAC (yes, I could have used a thrid-party program to convert). I hear no difference between ALAC and WAV. Ripping a CD into JRMC after selecting ALAC) all go through very smoothly. I converted the files however to ALAC because the WAV files were such a pain in JRiver with tagging.
